You're surrounded by a fucking ocean, you have all the water required as salt water is as effective as lake, river or city water, and if you watched the video, you would have seen the range the converted 747's have. Hell, use a couple of those and you'd have those fires out inside a weeks time. And terrain means nothing to them. They can be effective anywhere, the film also notes that fact. "Inside a weeks time" yes good but it doesn't really help the first 24 hours, which is the period in which 85-90% of the damage happened in the first place (there were as I said earlier over 400 fire fronts). Which is my point really. It was so quick. Terribly quick. For you to say "just" evacuate and put the fires out in my opinion is the same as me saying regarding the flooding of New Orleans "just" evacuate and drain the water (I do not like speaking ill of such things though). There are so many different elements to be considered than just doing "this" and just doing "that".

I wasn't the one that originated that, it was ALL the news channels, CNBC, ABC, CBS, CNN ... all of them said it first. Yeah, they fucked up in New Orleans because the people there wouldn't leave as they were told to do. They stayed to ravage and steal. This country has it's criminals, actually per capita the most in the world, but a famous person said once. "The greatness of a nation is if there isn't a wall dividing you from the rest of the world, do people rush in or run out?

Well if sorry if I mistook your point of that, but that is as I read it from your posts. Apart from all the swearing that is going on on both sides it is hard to look at the real point. People stayed to protect property/ animals and some most likely to loot too. That's one of the reasons so many perished.

Just thinking of the 747 tanker. I was wondering how low it has to be for the water drop to be effective? There is so much smoke around some of these fires that it may not be able to fly low enough? Maybe?

Yes, I play TA, but only on GameRanger and IP games with friends elsewhere. Like I said, none of you are good enough to come to GR and even play a game there. You're too caught up in your own little sick world here, while the rest of civilization moves onward and upward. Seriously-Get the Fuck out you half wit shitbag. Ban this joe blow

"The CL-415 awarded the prestigious Batefuegos de oro(gold fire extinguisher) in part reads "This is the most efficient tool for the aerial combat of forest fires, key to the organization of firefighting in a large number of countries". Canada has 50 and France 13, with a mediterranean coastline like Calif. except from San Francisco to Oregon. Fires there are out in minutes if not hours, not days, or weeks. We use bulldozers, thousands of men with picks and shovels. Google "Martin Mars Bomber", unwanted WW2 technology we sold to Canada, and they went on to perfect. Now we can't seem to get anyone in authority to talk about it. Submitted by: Hot Taxpayer"

Maybe? I believe the man at the mic said they fly at an altitude of 400 ft and are as effective as 7 C-130's.

Yeah, the lives lost in our fires are the ones that stay behind thinking a garden hose can do what hundreds of firemen and millions of dollars of firefighting equipment can't. It's sad when people put the value of their possessions above the value of their lives.

The rest of the world is moving upward? You are the one looking on here every half hour for new posts to say the usual 2/3 lame insults to. I keep coming back here because I can't believe the stupidity used in your verbal assaults on me and my ideas. It's funny how you seem to always find one person to single out for attack. If not me, it's always someone else. Proof is just reading back in your own previous posts. You come here just to flame people, hardly do I ever see anything complimentary, gratuitous or informative.
